Does the concept of Addressable Market matter to Investors?

Quite often startups have ideas for which they think there is a market, but the market is not there yet. Therefore it is very difficult to calculate the addressable market. An example of such a startup is feedburner. Long before it was known that there was a need for bloggers to manage their feeds and that feedburner could provide ads as a revenue source feedburner already received VC money.
