The Brainport Foundation implements the plans formulated in Brainport Navigator 2013. Within the four domains– People, Technology, Business, Basics – projects are developed and implemented in order to achieve the Brainport goal of being a top technology hotspot in Europe. The projects are summarised below:
 
People
Brainport stands for: entrepreneurship, flexible employment market, dynamics and excellence in education, self-awareness.
 
People – Entrepreneurship
Goal: promote entrepreneurial mentality. More new entrepreneurs and more entrepreneurship among company employees. Projects:

  • Brabant Entrepreneurial School
  • Entrepreneurship Stimulation Programme
  • Coaching entrepreneurs and improving access to investors

 
People – Employment market
Goal: improve match of supply and demand, quantitatively and qualitatively. Projects:

  • Toptech (knowledge industry) instrumentation
  • Promotion of progression/career development
  • Deployment of ‘inactive’ people in the employment market

 
People – Education
Goal: a Brainport-fit education system

  • Restructuring of vocational education
  • International school (campus)

 
People – Brainport pride
Goal: achieve pride and self-awareness among the Brainport population, companies and institutions on the basis of position, importance and potential of Brainport. Projects:

  • Impulse programme – Brainport Mentality

 
Technology
Brainport stands for: top technology, excellent knowledge company match (demand articulation and knowledge transfer), creativity in application in an open innovation environment/culture.
 
Technology - Centres of Excellence
Goal: stimulate innovation at the interface of technology areas and application fields. Projects:

  • Multidisciplinary in open innovation (innovation centres: public/private).
  • Holst Centre
  • Centre for Molecular Medicine (CMM)
  • Dutch Polymer Institute (DPI): through-development/Wageningen/NIMR
  • Embedded System Institute (ESI): through-development to leading technology institute

Technology – Knowledge transfer
Goal: use knowledge circulation to further innovation among SME (Small and Medium sized Enterprises). Focus on ambition and excellence. Projects:

Goal: boost familiarity and accessibility of (innovation) instrumentation for SMEs
