Founded in 2006 to develop a revolutionary display technology, Liquavista is based on more than a decade of work completed inside Philips Research Labs in Eindhoven. Based on the principles of Electrowetting, Liquavista’s screens produce bright, colorful images ensuring excellent indoor and outdoor viewability. With the same range and ability to show videos and full color images as current LCD, whilst addressing two main problems inherent in today’s products: poor readability in bright lighting conditions and high power consumption that drains batteries quickly. With the global market for mobile displays around $16 billion and the current market for LCD displays at $62 billion, the opportunity for a product that addresses these issues is phenomenal. Suitable for use in a wide variety of portable and mobile applications such as phones, watches, cameras, DVD players and automotive applications. Liquavista’s manufacturing technology allows for the re-use of the established display industry supply chain enabling its screens to be very efficiently and rapidly adopted by the electronics industry. Liquavista opened its first volume production facility in September 2008 and introduced Liquavista ColorBright, its first product offering, in October 2008. With the vision to more than double the performance and substantially reduce the environmental impact of information displays, Liquavista’s products will allow people to be mobile without compromise.
