NSure is a spin-off from the research institute Agrotechnology & Food Sciences Group that is part of Wageningen University and Research Center. In this institute researchers try to elucidate the molecular processes underlying quality and quality deterioration in fresh plant products. This work resulted in the development of the technology that NSure is now using for the quality assays. Specifically for potato this research was done as part of the Centre for Biosystems Genomics (CBSG), one of the research centres initiated by the Netherlands Genomics Initiative
Monique van Wordragen, head of the research group and now NSure's director, decided to make this technology commercially available for all stakeholders in agribusiness.
NSure was established in the autumn of 2006 and currently employs 8 enthusiastic and experienced people. NSure sells assays for potatoes, fruit, flowers and forest tree seedlings. This year, these assays have been sold in 14 countries inside and outside Europe. In June 2007 NSure was selected as one of 25 high potential start-ups of the year by the Dutch magazine FEM Business
